The IMM monitors the stone industry on a national, international and local level and disseminates quality up-to-date information on economic, labour and production issues.

We collect, process and produce statistics, analyses and surveys for operators in the industry, local and foreign institutions, students and researchers and the public at large.

The information collected and analysed is classified in two ways:

databases
which contain statistics systematically and continuously collected from all over the world in order to formulate an up-to-date picture of the overall trends in the stone industry. The data used is preferably from official sources although sometimes we produce the data ourselves by directly surveying operators. We collect their opinions and data without intermediaries, again in order to formulate a reasonable overview which is as reliable as possible. We process the data collected so that they may be easily accessed by non-expert users too. This requires careful filtering and conversion of the data which does not interfere with the meaning of the numbers but just makes them more readable;

analyses and comments
based on specific surveys, some of which are periodical, others monographs, on various subjects which we carry out in addition to our collection of data for the creation of databases. These surveys are either at regular intervals or are on specific themes and are either conceived and conducted by the IMM or commissioned by third parties, especially public bodies, and then conducted by the IMM. Our analyses cover the range of issues concerning the international stone industry. In particular in recent years we have devoted specific attention to the theme of work, the market and employment, especially in the local geographical area with special consideration for training and professional and training requirements.
